Wind & Kitespots

Tarifa is a all year kitesurf destination. It is definitely the best place to go in Europe if you want to kite as many days as possible during your kite holidays. There are two different wind directions “Levante” & “Poniente”. Levante is a eastern wind that is blowing all day long and between 20 and 40 knots. Poniente is a western wind coming from the Atlantic Ocean. It brings a cooler breeze to Tarifa and is very stable for kitesurfing. Usually around 15 to 30 knots it starts around midday and ends at sunset. There is no typical windseason but usually duringsummertime Levante is more often and during wintertime we enjoy more Poniente days. Tarifa has three main kitespots “Los Lances Beach”, “Valdevaqueros Beach” and “Balneario”.

"The wind is like love, you can't see it but you can feel it."

Los Lances Beach

The perfect kitebeach to learn kitesurfing in Tarifa. A wide beach that gives a lot of space to put up your kitegear and learn your first steps of kitesurfing. Only a 5 minutes drive from Tarifa Center this long beach is the main kitespot we teach. Enjoy a drink in one of the beachbars after your course. Perfect also for sunbathing.

Valdevaqueros Beach

A 10 minutes drive from Tarifa center you find Valdevaqueros Beach, a very beautiful bay with a sanddune at the end to discover one of the best views on Tarifa and Africa in the area! Our 2nd kitespot to teach outside the main season, as the beach can get very crowded in summertime and has less space for teaching. For advanced kiters perfect all year round. Tumbao Beachbar, Tangana Beachbar and Bibo Restaurant to enjoy after kitesession time.

Balneario Tarifa

The place to be for strong wind lovers and Big Air Kitesurf addicts. When Levante blows strong you will get a real kiteshow at Balneario by the Isla de las Palomas. Professional and amateur kiters from all over the world come to train their highest jumps and tricks here. The most beautiful time is a sunset session to kite or to watch. Make sure your level is advanced before kitesurfing here! Strong currents, rocks and little space make this spot a tricky one.
